Antarte presented Azores Collection in Madrid
Considered a furniture collection aimed at the 21st century consumer, the Azores Collection has in nature and the recognized natural beauties of the archipelago, which gives the collection its name, its main source of inspiration.
Antarte presented, for the first time, the Azores Collection at Intergift, the largest Spanish design, lifestyle and home decor fair, which took place from the 5th to the 9th of February, in Madrid.
Considered a furniture collection aimed at the 21st century consumer, the Azores Collection has in nature and the recognized natural beauties of the archipelago, which gives the collection its name, its main source of inspiration. To find the perfect balance between quality, design and environmental responsibility, the raw material that gives body and soul to this collection is made of cryptomeria.
This cryptomeria, also known as Japanese cedar or Cryptomeria japónica, is a tree species that can be found in the Azores, as the island has ideal climatic conditions and is very similar to its natural habitat.
The high rainfall and constant humidity are favorable to the average annual growth of this type of tree.
Being difficult to reproduce, its repopulation can only be guaranteed through planting, especially above 400 meters of altitude. Cryptomeria, a low-density wood, with a pink hue and pleasant aroma, can only be cut from the age of 30 and must be, on average, 21 meters high and have a diameter between 28 and 130 cm.
It is these characteristics that allow Antarte to create unique pieces of furniture depending on the diameters of the raw pieces. This noble material is of superior quality, durable and resistant to humidity.
“Antarte Mobiliário is a company that has been dedicated to producing superior quality furniture for over two decades. Bearing in mind that this fair is a unique opportunity to launch this type of product, and that the Azores Collection is well positioned in this segment, we were unable to say no to the invitation that was addressed to us”, argues Mário Rocha, CEO of Antarte.
At the invitation of Associação Selectiva Moda and Associação Têxtil e Vestuário de Portugal, through the From Portugal project, the participation of Antarte Mobiliário in this event aimed to reinforce contacts with a view to potential international commercial relations, as well as to increase the visibility of national production across borders.
